7th Grade Math Class

Although most of my classes do take place in the beautiful outdoors I do get to spend some time in the classroom. These are some pictures of part of the 7th grade class. We are studying Pre-Algebra. It is only about half of the class because the other half are in a more advanced class. They gave me the lower half...and I am ok with that. Its been awhile since I took a math class myself. But we have a lot of fun in there. Last night was parent night. A lot of the parents came to the school to ask questions and meet the staff. It was fun but a little antimidating for sure. My position as the athletic director is new so they like to challenge and question things. It is nice to have their input most of the time! :) But it really is nice to be at a school that the parents care about their children's education.

unusual gifts from students...

Daylan came home on Friday with an Ostrich egg from one of her students. We aren't reall sure what to do with it. But it looks cool...and it is so thick! You can hear something in it when you shake it so we aren't sure if it has a baby in it or just a really solid yoke. YUCK! So funny!!!

Local Animals....

There were a bunch of kids in our complex playing with this iguana (i think that is what it is). It was funny because the boy with the stick was chasing all of the other kids around. It was really cool to get to see one up so close. The kids are always playing games out in the complex. The like to have races, we always say they are preparing for the olympics. They run all the time!

Say NO to Etheopian Food!!!

A bunch of the teachers all went out for dinner lastnight at an Etheopian restuarant. A memorable occassion to say the least. Who knows what we ate! It was really fun though. I am loving getting to know all the other teachers. It is so fun to work with other teachers who really just want to be there for the kids. Tonight we are all going to another house for games and desserts! GOOD TIMES!!! Wish you could all come and visit this beautiful country! Keep in touch!!!

You really want me to try and eat this?!?! You will all be proud to know that I ate enough to be full...and then we all went out for Gilato! :) As Daylan said "We have to fill in the cracks!"

Jen and Daylan trying to eat...who knows what!!

Say NO to Etheopian Food!!!

Amsterdam Airport

Steven and I in the Amsterdam airport waiting for our next flight to Nairobi. He will be teaching math and maybe coaching Basketball. We are also flying with Bob the ESL teacher but he wasn't around for the picture. It is so nice not to have to travel by myself! :)
